Time Management for Freelancers Using Sunrise
Starting a career as a freelancer comes with few different skills that you have to develop. One of those skills is managing your time while working with more than just one client. I remember times when I had 8-10 clients I was working for. Sometimes it was hard to manage all the work I was doing for them. Also, I have to mention that I had to meet each one of my clients via Skype on a weekly basis.
For more than a year I was looking for a perfect solution to my problem with time management. I tested a lot of different time and project management tools until I found what I was looking for.
In the beginning, all of my clients had different project management tools that they were using so it was hard to find a perfect solution. Some of them were using Asana, some used Trello and BaseCamp.
Get A Calendar
Sunrise is a free calendar app made for Google Calendar, iCloud, and Exchange. It’s available on Desktop, iPhone, iPad and Android.
It allows you to link all of your project management tools into calendar:
You can link Asana, Trello, Basecamp and many more to your Sunrise account. Also, you can connect your Facebook account to Sunrise to see all upcoming events and your friends birthdays.

With Sunrise, you can keep track of all your daily activities at one place. For example, you can set up an event, specify it’s time and date, add a location and add people. Every person you add will receive an email with confirmation for that event.
If you want to modify your event in Sunrise you just click on the event, or if you want to change it’s date and time you can simply drag and drop it.
There are also additional options that you can set up such as description and repeat. Repeat option is one of my favorite. You can set up just one event and have it repeated, as you like throughout the week or month.
You can change color or each event that you create. I prefer assigning one color to a specific project, so I can easily see what project I have to work on.
Notifications in Sunrise are another thing that you can set up as you like. You can enable or disable event notifications for a specific calendar. There are few more things that you can add such as holidays in your country, email contacts birthdays, and much more.
If you have a scheduled meeting, Sunrise will notify you 15 minutes before meeting.
Sunrise allows users to connect with Google Calendar, iCloud calendar and with Exchange Server. The following third-party services feature integration with Sunrise: Foursquare, GitHub, TripIt,Asana, Evernote, Google Tasks, Trello, Songkick, Wunderlist. As a web app, users can sign-in and use Sunrise in a web browser, with no downloads required. The native Sunrise app can also be downloaded for OS X 10.9 and later, iOS 8.0 and later (both iPhone and iPad) as well as Android phones and tablets.
Working With Multiple Clients
Since I was working with multiple clients I usually got a new email address from each client dedicated only for this project. With Sunrise, I can link multiple email addresses, and access all of your calendars on one board.
For example, I had a client using Basecamp and he assigned new Google email address to me. I was able to link Basecamp to my sunrise and connect my new email as well.
Sunrise Calendar is an incredible application. It’s interface is easy to navigate, it connects to all major calendar services and it’s completely FREE. An intuitive interface makes Sunrise Calendar one of the best free calendar apps that’s available on multiple platforms.
The initial setup process for Sunrise is quite simple. First, you have to install the app, or you can register on sunrise.am . Next, you will need to create your account, which can be done using an email address or by connecting to your Google or Facebook account.
If you use Facebook or Google to create your new account, the respective calendar will be imported into your account automatically. Once your account is registered, you can then add iCloud, Google, or Exchange calendars to the app.
I don’t say it’s the best app out there to manage your time and projects, but I found it really useful for the type of work that I do for my clients. My work is much more organized and
